YoYo Necklace

Awhile back I took a class from Katie at Domestic Bliss on how to make these darn cute necklaces.......

CoronadoJun09 197 This is one made by katie. I love it. She does such a beautful job. I thought I would try and make my own version.......

09projects 453 You know it had to be pink! It has some Heather Bailey fabrics, Sis Boom, vintage material, and one is some very early Rachel Ashwell. And of course, vintage buttons. I've been making yoyo's like mad ever since this class. Now, I just have to put them together! Everytime I wear it I get asked where did I get it. I have to laugh a little, and then say I made it! Can you believe I have done just about every type of craft, but didn't know how to make a yoyo?? Silly, I know!

Gypsy Boheme Voyage July 18th & 19th, 2009

Presented by Vintage Bliss & Sweetpeas and Snapshots

What is Gypsy Boheme Voyage, you ask? The Voyage is a special flea market trip to the Long Beach Flea Market in July. We figure not all Summer vacations are meant for the kids, grown ups can have Summer vacations, too. Your Gypsy Boheme Voyage will consist of :

Creating a Flea Market Wish book that you will use to help you find all the treasures you are looking for at the Long Beach Flea market. Also, you will create a very gypsy-like tote bag to carry some of your treasures in. Here is a sample of my Flea Market Wish Book...

6a00d83524f6ff53ef01157095f9a6970b

It will be filled with vintage papers and images of what you wish to find at the flea market.

09projects 412

Lunch will be provided inbetween the two classes. For the flea market tote we will acquiant you with a no-sew method of embellishing fabrics together.

Dinner and drink reception will be served at a secret location, and then it is off to....

Mary's house in Santa Monica where we will pitch a tent in true Gypsy style and dance the night away under the sparkling lights and some surprise entertainment...I can't wait!

Until then...

Tricia & Mary

PS, there are 1-2 spots left if anyone would still like to sign up. Just email me.

KC Wrap Up

Kcsummer09 170 This is me:   Please keep from heat.

That's how I felt when I stepped off the plane yesterday. You felt like you stepped into an oven! I bought this stamp in KC, I thought it was appropriate for someone who lives in Arizona. Needless to say, I'm home. The weather in KC was awesome, 80 degrees and gorgeous. Loved it.

Here is the rest of my trip, summed up:

Kcsummer09 060 Urban Arts & Crafts   Fun store  with every craft supply you need, paper, beads, sewing, knitting, and great classes in a gorgeous store.

Kcsummer09 137  Florigieum in Parkville,Mo. Every kind of felt, fiber, yarn, and trim you can imagine. This store is like a museum for fiber enthusiasts. I can not say enough how pretty it is. Kcsummer09 134

Kcsummer09 136

Kcsummer09 142 Me, at the Riverfest in KC. Not so great, needs better organizing.

Kcsummer09 154 Good JuJu, love the name. Not sure if they have a website, but it is near downtown KC.MO. off of 12th St. Such a cool place. They only open on the weekends and specific dates, so you have to get on their mailing list. It is an old warehouse filled with different vendors offering vintage and antique finds. WIth really great prices, I'm telling you I could have filled a TRUCK! I did find a few things for Art Unraveled next month. You lucky shoppers!

Kcsummer09 143 Kcsummer09 144

Kcsummer09 145 Kcsummer09 147 Great displays, and great deals here.

Kcsummer09 152 It is surrounded by old red brick warehouses. If I lived here, I would find a way to buy one of these old buildings, and live in it and have a store at the same time. It isjust too dang cool, and a little creepy at the same time. :)

Kcsummer09 156 Now, I have to show you a little of what I brought back with me, lots of goodies for Art Unraveled and other upcoming shows. My dining room table is covered with stuff and the couches. Gotta price it all and clean it up!

Kcsummer09 157

Kcsummer09 159

Kcsummer09 169 love rusty things!

Kcsummer09 160

Kcsummer09 165 very cool old books!

Kcsummer09 162 vintage religious charms for repurposed jewelry

Kcsummer09 168 My favorite piece of all, this one.

I'm not big on religion but I love the art of it. It is so beautiful. My son turned me on to the religious chalkware a few years ago, he loves it too. Funny, how at 8 years old he liked these pieces of art. It's just cool. This one, I'm keeping for me. It was a great price at $5, I had to have it. The one thing I'm keeping for me, everything else-sell!

Spaghetti Western

Okay, you are going to love this place! Spaghetti Western, it's called. How cool of a name is that? If you know me, You know I love clever business names. The name is what gets me in the door, first. This store is a little western, a little vintage, and a lotta cool! Melissa, the owner used to have one of my favorite stores in Parkville, MO called Nine Lives, again, cool name. Not the best start

Not the best start to my trip to Kansas......

US Airways lost my bag!!!! I arrived in KC at midnight on thursday, and NO BAG!!!!!!!

no toothbrush,no clothes,no panties,no MAKEUP!, and NO HAIRSPRAY!!!!!!! aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

What is a glamour girl to do?????????? I was not a happy camper, people. NOT HAPPY!!!!!!

So at 1am I'm at WalMart buying $40 worth of cheap makeup and some clothes for the next day. The airline had a nnice little "we're sorry we lost your luggage" travel kit. COmplete with a toothbrush that was falling apart, and the best part......some Woolite.  Question: if I have no clothes because your airline lost my bag, how am I supposed to use the Woolite???????????? Just a thought.

Kcsummer09 001

Needless to say, I got my bag the next day, after spending $40 on nothing I really need anymore, AND paying $15 to US AIRWAYS to lose my bag. Did they offer to refund my money? NO. I'll be back on Southwest, next  flight.

More beautiful vintage shopping pics to come, today I am going to River Market, yea!

Heart's Tease

I had to share my day with you. My heart was teased today. And teased hard. Some of you who know me well, know that I used to have a shop of my own-twice. I had to close them both, against my hearts wishes, but nonetheless closed. I miss them like you wouldn't believe. When I go into other people's stores and little cottage-type shops like mine was, my heart aches, aches, and aches. It really is torture. Once you have a shop of your own it becomes your baby, your child, a part of you. So anyways, on to the story...  I was in Phoenix today checking out a friends new cell phone store in a great part of Phoenix, older homes and great big trees. Love it. As we were looking thru the windows the owner of the building came up and we started talking(me, being a real estate agent my interest was peaked) and she took us inside to the other suites that were available. I knew I was in DEEP TROUBLE at this point, and so did my sweetie(aka Big Daddy) that was with me. There are 2 spots available, a smaller suite and a larger industrial one with these awesome cool vintage lamps hanging from the ceiling. I didn't take too many pictures, but here are the outside pics...

09Forsale2 128 The suite on the far right is the smaller one. It would be so perfect for me and the landlords are so cute and nice. This older couple that are just as sweet as can be. Tugging at my heart even more-to have a landlord  that was nice and not crazy like the last one!

09Forsale2 129 And to sweeten the deal, pun intended, there is this way cool bakery called "Let Them Eat Cake"! OMG! Are you kidding me?! A damn cake bakery next to a shop that could be mine!!!! Heaven, just heaven. So all day my head has been talking to my heart saying "you could make it work, you could have a store again, sure" This really is torture, I didn't go here with the intention of even considering the idea of a store again. Back and forth in my brain, aaaaahhhhhhh!!!! Anyways, I just wanted to clue you in to my dilema. I don't think I can do it, justdon't have the finds to do it. Did I mention the rent is ridiculously cheap? aaaahhhh!!!

So, on to more artsy things. (I have to distract myself, bear with me). Here is a altered art piece that I have  been working on....09Forsale2 136 I found the tin sacred heart in Bisbee a few weeks ago. They are really cool. I listed this piece on Etsy, you can find it here

09Forsale2 135

09Forsale2 141 Then, I made this piece too. I think I have to keep this one. I really love the pink door escuchteon. The wings are stamped on my favorite FooFaLa paper.

09Forsale2 139 09Forsale2 140

Well ,that's it for now. Back to dreaming............... should I , could I? to be continued, maybe? maybe not?
